Business Secretary Vince Cable visited a Linden Homes development in Teddington to observe the housing, jobs and investment brought to the constituency.
The MP for Twickenham was given a guided tour of the properties earlier this month and discussed a range of key issues with Linden Homes’ managing and marketing directors, Steve Bangs and Emily Nesbitt.
Mr Bangs said: “We are always very keen to invite local MPs and neighbourhood leaders to see our developments, ask questions and challenge us.”
High up on the agenda was the Linden Homes National Apprenticeship Scheme which will aim to solve a skills shortage and provide support for house builders providing new housing.
Mr Cable said house building was crucial to economic recovery.
He said: “It provides jobs, creates apprenticeships and provides homes that we desperately need. The coalition is committed to the success of house-building and I was pleased to hear that our recently announced Help to Buy scheme is being warmly welcomed by Linden Homes.”
