Thousands of people flocked to a community market that launched for the first time.
Organisers said more than 2,000 people wandered around the stalls in the sunshine for the first Hampton market, held on Sunday, April 14.
Councillor Geoffrey Samuel said: “It had an incredible buzz to I, which I had never seen in that area.
“There was a farm that produced its own lamb and veal. An excellent bread stall, flowers, pottery, all sorts of things.
“It was absolutely packed. People were coming up saying what a wonderful success it was.
“It was a remarkable event.”
The market will be held on the second Sunday of every month and will take place in the new village square, designed as part of the Hampton north uplift programme, when it is completed.
Market organiser Sarah Burley, owner of event company Bash, said building work to create the square meant stalls were limited at the moment but she hoped to have more available in the future.
She said: “I think they all enjoyed it. It was a really good day.
“Residents have said it was a huge success for the traders and for the area. We think it was a good start for the newly rebranded Hampton Square.”
The next market will be held on May 12.
