A woman has been taken to hospital as a priority after being struck by a train at Barnes Bridge.
The woman, who was hit by the train shortly before 5.30pm today, was taken by the London Ambulance Service (LAS) to St George's Hospital in Tooting.
She was treated for head injuries at the scene then taken by road, escorted by the air ambulance doctor, to the major trauma centre at the hospital.
Police, LAS and the British Transport Police (BTP) were called to the scene shortly after 5.30pm today, April 16.
The incident, which involved a Waterloo to Hounslow train, is being treated as non suspicious.
Services travelling from Waterloo to Hounslow via Weybridge are being diverted and tickets will be accepted on buses and the underground.
The line towards Twickenham and Weybridge remains closed but is set to open shortly as the train is being moved back to the depot.
A BTP spokesman said officers were called to the line at Barnes Bridge after a report that a person had been struck by a train.
The spokesman said: “Officers from BTP and the Metropolitan Police attended the incident, which was reported to BTP at 5.32pm and is currently being treated as non suspicious."
The line was handed back to Network Rail at 6.10pm
