A 63-year-old Twickenham man hopes to raise £10,000 for Epilepsy Society in honour of his son, who died from a seizure in 2010.
Dean Burns said: “I am running this marathon for my son Stafford who died in 2010 after a seizure. I just want to help in any way I can by raising money towards treatments, research and awareness, especially of Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy.”
With the support of family and friends, he is hoping to get round the 26.2-mile course in five hours, 15 minutes, while raising money for the charity, which looks to tackle the neurological condition that affects more than half a million people in the UK.
Epilepsy Society runs tailor-made training programmes for health professionals, employers and individuals as well as providing a comprehensive range of training and qualifications for staff members.
