Cheese lovers are expected to flock to Hampton Village for the second year of Hampton cheese week.
Last year’s fromage festival saw 10 shops, cafes and restaurants join in the fun selling cheesy products, with a full programme events for the community.
The first Hampton cheese week included sporty challenges to tie in with the London 2012 Olympicsl, with cheese box tower building and cheese bowling.
Director of the Cheese and Wine Company, Steve Parker was looking forward to an even better cheese week, which will run from April 20 to 27 this year.
Highlights during the week include cheese-making classes, where families are encouraged to get their hands dirty in the curds and make some cheese themselves.
There will also be a cheesy quiz night, food and drink challenge, Hampton cheese awards and cheese master class with former Coronation Street actor Sean Wilson, who is now a cheese maker.
The Cheese and Wine Company, named in the Financial Times’ top five cheese shops in London and won best retailer award at the Richmond Business Awards, will be the centre of events, with other business involved.
Shaun’s Quality Meats will be joining in the fun selling cheesy sausages, the Jolly Coopers will serve cheese fondues and Marini’s Fish and Chips will sell cheesy chips.
Mr Parker said: “Lots of businesses around the village are running cheese related events throughout the week and as a result Hampton will be very cheesy all week.
“It is also fantastic to have Sean Wilson coming to cook for our customers using his own cheeses and recipes from his Great Northern Cookbook.”
A full programme of events was due to be announced.
