Picking audience members to be the butt of a joke is a favourite tactic for many comics, but one takes it a step further by asking one lucky person for their hand in marriage.
Position Vacant: Apply Within is one of Julian Clary’s most successful shows in more than 30 years and is coming to Richmond for one night of camp comedy.
The performance climaxes with the national treasure and winner of Celebrity Big Brother marrying a member of the audience live on stage.
The ceremony involves confetti, a member of the clergy, bridesmaids and bucket loads of saucy innuendo.
Clary says: “Once again there’s bound to be stiff competition for my hand. That’s why I’ll be hosting ruthless elimination games.
“But you can be sure of one thing. By the end of the evening, we’ll all be celebrating my new partnership.”
The 53-year-old novelist, writer and stage and screen performer is a regular panellist on radio’s Just a Minute and stars each Christmas in one of the country’s biggest pantomimes.
Julian Clary Position Vacant, Apply Within at Richmond Theatre, The Green, Richmond. Sunday, April 28, at 8pm. Tickets £21. Call 0844 8717651 or visit atgtickets.com/richmond.
