Two brainy Kew College boys have been awarded medals in a worldwide maths challenge.

Matthew Cain, 10, and 11-year-old Patrick Silcox were given silver medals in the bonus round of the Primary Mathematics Challenge.

More than 70,000 pupils from 1,875 schools across the world took part in the challenge and a select number of children sat the bonus round in February, with 500 receiving a medal.

A spokesman from Kew College said: “This is a wonderful achievement for the children and we at Kew College are very proud of them.”

A list of award-winning pupils has been published by the Mathematical Association at m-a.org.uk.
