Independent traders are encouraging shoppers to bag a bargain during the month of love.
To coincide with Valentine’s Day, Teddington’s shops, restaurants and cafes are taking part in two weeks of special offers for Fiver Fest Fortnight.
The initiative, organised by Totally Locally Teddington, hopes to encourage residents to shop locally, go into new places and support independent businesses.
Initiative owner Tracey Wardhaugh said traders taking part would be bending over backwards to slash prices of certain products to just £5 during the festival, which will run from February 2 to 16.
She said: “It’s a manageable number for people. Especially after the Christmas squeeze everyone is getting their credit card statements. It’s a good way to encourage people back into the shops.
“It’s over the Valentines period as well so covers that. Commercially it’s always love, love, love, so we are taking it one step further. If you love where you live, shop where you live.
“With enough traders involved it builds up community spirit.”
