Workers from the council took to the streets early this morning to salt the pavements in preparation for today’s freezing weather.
They braved the cold as they circulated towns in Richmond, which they will continue to do for the rest of the day.
Council gritter Rafal Pietrowski had been salting the pavements in Twickenham since 6.30am and will finish at 4pm.
He said today’s conditions were not good and there were 44 gritters from the council out today.
He said: “It is very cold. I am just gritting the pavements in the town centre in Twickenham. I will stay here all day.”
