Irene Lilian Donnelly
Irene Lilian DONNELLY (née Cornell) With great sadness, the Donnelly family wish to let Carshalton friends and neighbours know the sad news of her passing. Happily married to Daniel for almost sixty years, a fantastic Mum to Stephen, Strawberrie (Jane) and Paul, and a doting Nana to her grandson Curt, Rene lived her life in Carshalton to the fullest. As a young mum-of-three, Rene made Carshalton Park her second home, making friends with everyone she met, including dogs, squirrels and ducks. Her energy and kind spirit led her to work at Queen Mary's Hospital for Children, tending to very sick children in its residential wards. This was followed by a fifteen-year career in local government, where, as Clerk to the Magistrates, Rene infused even the most sombre situations with a smile and her trademark cheeky sense of humour. Even Sutton's most hardened criminals loved Rene! In recent golden years, when not on her beloved cruise-ship holidays, Rene could often be seen in Wallington, joyfully hunting out the bargains in Lidl, trotting up and down Beddington Gardens or chattering away with friends and neighbours. Rest in peace, unique and unforgettable Rene ~ and we will do our best to continue as you taught us; walking on the bright side of life, 'kicking up your heels' and finding the fun in each of life's moments. You truly were the Dancing Queen. ------------------- A service to commemorate and celebrate Rene's life will be held at The North Surrey Crematorium, Morden on Friday July 19th at 4.00pm. Old friends, colleagues and neighbours are most welcome to attend. ------------------------
