Brentford manager Martin Allen is concentrating solely on winning promotion and taking no action at this time over the criticisms of his methods by departing director Greville Waterman.
Waterman hit out on a fans website, claiming that Allen wanted too much control and this had led to the appointment of a chief executive being delayed until the end of the season. But Waterman then made an apology to Allen and the club.
Allen said this week: "Following a meeting with the chairman of the League Managers Association, John Barnwell, and their legal team, I have decided to take no further action at the present time on comments that were made about me and the club.
"I feel I have a duty to protect all the hard work that everybody has put in and a duty to protect myself.
“All my concentration must be geared solely towards the continued success on the field of play."
Allen’s Brentford future seems secure as he has already planned ahead for next season by appointing defender Scott Fitzgerald as youth team manager, working under head of youth Barry Quin.
The Bees manager said: "Scott will be on a non-contract as a player next season but can be called on when needed.
"The squad will have to be virtually in place before the season starts as restrictions are being made on loan players and you cannot go into the transfer market after Christmas."
Brentford chairman Eddie Rogers commented: "We now plan to appoint a chief exective at the end of the season.
“On reflection, we felt it was best not to make a major change at a crucial stage when we are bidding for promotion.
"We also want to wait for the outcome of our planning application on April 14 to improve our Griffin Park ground.
The original hearing by Hounslow Council’s planning committee was postponed to allow us time to meet with the resident’s group, who had raised objections.
"The residents have now withdrawn those objections as we have come up with a new design to install a supporters lounge within the New Road stand that will minimise the loss of light into the adjoining back gardens. Another important step forward is that we have acquired the Princes Royal public house next to our ground.
“We will continue to use it as a pub with a Brentford theme, but we will turn the function room into a club shop."
The Bees start a crucial spell of four games in 11 days when they entertain Bristol City this Saturday (3pm) and welcome Deon Burton back from suspension.
They are at home again on Tuesday against Tranmere (7.45pm).
Skipper Michael Dobson is set to miss the rest of the season with the broken arm he suffered in a clash with team-mate Michael Turner in the 2-1 win at Stockport County on Saturday, but is hoping he might be available if Brentford reach the play-off final in Cardiff.
Meanwhile, Brentford can welcome back the fit-again Eddie Hutchinson, John Salako and new signing Marcus Gayle.
Allen may take a gamble by using Gayle, who has been nursing a hamstring injury, against Bristol City or Tranmere.
The Brentford boss admits: "I haven’t seen Marcus play since I played against him some 15 years ago.
“But I’ve had him watched and as we are only paying him when he’s in the side it’s not too much of a gamble."
Brentford squad from: Nelson; O'Connor, Turner, Sodje, Frampton, Salako, Pratley, Talbot, Rankin, Tabb, Hunt, Hutchinson, Scott P. Fitzgerald, Gayle, Burton, Peters, Myers, Scott B. Fitzgerald, Bankole.
