London mayoral hopeful Zac Goldsmith has thrown his weight behind a residents' campaign to reinstate a trampoline at a Mortlake housing estate.
The Richmond Park MP has joined calls from residents for Richmond Housing Partnership to bring back the bouncing device after it was removed earlier this month.
He said: "I have urged RHP to reconsider this decision.
"They are taking caution to an absolute extreme and risk depriving children of a fun and healthy activity."
The popular trampoline was removed from Kindell House, High Street, for being a "serious safety concern".
Robert Dobbs, director of RHP, said at the time: "Unfortunately we can’t give permission for personal trampolines to be used on our land as there are safety implications for our customers and our buildings insurance policy doesn’t cover any personal injury claims for such equipment.
"We can’t guarantee that the trampoline will be supervised at all times and therefore the risk of injury to anyone who uses the trampoline remains a serious safety concern."
