A man from east Twickenham has received a knighthood for his global charity work.
Anthony Bailey, of Riverdale Road, was honoured for his longstanding charitable and inter-religious work undertaken in his roles within the Roman Catholic charity organisation.
He was knighted at an investiture ceremony by Sir Rodney Williams, Her Majesty’s Governor General of Antigua and Barbuda, last month.
The ceremony was held at Government House in St John’s.
Sir Anthony said: "I am touched to have been recognised in this way and accept this high distinction on behalf the many people who have worked alongside me in countless charitable and inter-religious projects across Britain and the Commonwealth."
His Excellency Sir Rodney Williams, official representative of the Queen in her right as Queen of Antigua and Barbuda, presented Sir Anthony with the insignia of knighthood in the rank of Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of the Nation.
The award was announced on the Independence Day of the Commonwealth Realm on November 1.
Sir Anthony was enlisted to the Order of the British Empire in 2008 for services to charity and inter-religious relations.
He was knighted by Pope Benedict XVI in 2009 as a Knight Grand Cross of the Pontifical Order of Pope St Sylvester.
Also in attendance were the prime minister and foreign minister of Antigua and Barbuda as well as other senior diplomats.
Sir Anthony's wife, HSH Princess Marie-Therese von Hohenberg Lady Bailey, also attended the ceremony.
